JESSE JAMES: "GOOD TIMES" AND SORRY END
Then, in 1873 the JAMES gang robbed a train for the first time (Adair, Iowa), but they were unlucky, for they captured just 3000 dollars. Later, a train passed by with 75 000 dollars!
The St. Louis Midland Railroad finally offered a reward of 25 000 dollars. 1874 a gunfight in Monegaw Springs took place, where the Pinkerton man Lull and Sheriff Daniels were shot as well as JOHN YOUNGER. One year after this, the Pinkerton-men threw a bomb (explosive) into the house of the JAMES family. Their mother and little stepbrother were seriously injured by this.
1876: Hold-up in Northfield, Minnesota, 3 gang members killed, the YOUNGER brothers captured.
(BOB died in prison in 1889; COLE and JAMES were released in 1901; JAMES committed suicided short after and COLE died in 1916.)
After a period on the run, the JAMES family settled down in St. Joseph.
On the 3rd April, 1882, ROBERT and CHARLIE FORD were in the house of JESSE. As it was hot, JESSE put off his jacket, vest and weapons, a Smith & Wesson and a colt, and laid them on the bed. Dusting some pictures on the wall, he was shot from behind by ROBERT FORD. The FORDS had no personal reasons for this. They only did it for the reward.
Many people came to JESSE'S burial. On his headstone are the words:
JESSE W. JAMES, died April 3, 1882,
aged 34 years, six months, 28 days
murdered by a coward whose name is
not worth to appear here.
BOB FORD, however, didn't escape from his destiny. After appearances in wildwest shows, where he showed off with his "glory", he was killed in 1893 by a relative of the YOUNGERS.
FRANK was now the only survivor of the JAMES gang. After a law-suit he was acquitted. FRANK helped ROOSEVELT in his election campaign and appeared in wildwest shows. He died in 1915.

On the first night of the first JESSE-JAMES-film a granddaughter was there declaring that the man on the screen rode a horse and was called JESSE JAMES being the only similiarities to my grandfather.

JESSIE JAMES: "THEY DROVE US TO IT!" (THE EARLY YEARS)
JESSIE WOODSON JAMES, the famous outlaw, was born 5th September, 1847 and died on 3rd April, 1882. Since then, a few people have been pretending to be the "true" JESSE JAMES. Right after his death, a lot of newspapers wrote an obituary notice for (in memory of) the legendary bandit. Soon, a popular ballad arose:
"He stole from the rich and he gave to the poor
He'd a hand and a heart and a brain...
The James gang operated mainly in Kansas and Missouri robbing banks and the railway. According to the legend JESSIE was a noble outlaw, a modern Robin Hood distributing the loot among the poor. But reality was completely different from this romantic belief.
His father, who was a baptist-preacher, left his family during the gold rush of 1849. The pious man went to California to dig for gold and never came back.
FRANK JAMES, JESSE'S elder brother, joined the gang of the ill-famed WILLIAM ANDERSON, also known as (aka) "BLOODY BILL". In 1861 he took part in the battle of Wilson Creek fighting for the South and in 1863 in a raid on Lawrence, Kansas, whereby the whole town was destroyed.
In 1864 JESSE JAMES took part in "BLOODY BILL'S" massacre in Centralia-14 unarmed soldiers were killed!
After the Civil War, the two brothers were so to speak "unemployed", so they decided to declare war to the banks and railroad. For this purpose the JAMES brothers made common cause with COLE YOUNGER ,born 1844, and his brothers JAMES, BOB and JOHN. They formed a gang haunting the mid-west. By the way, FRANK loved to quote Shakespeare and the Bible. It is said that JESSE got so annoyed at this that he threatened his brother with his revolver.
In 1866 the gang committed a bank robbery in Liberty, Missouri.
Although the robberies being often rather brutal, the people regarded them as rebels against the Union. They were generally admired. Asked why he did so (all that), JESSE used to respond:
"The drove us to it!"
The exact number of raids committed by them is unclear.

SCHOPI WAS RIGHT (1)
PARERGA II

Eine Warnung an alle Kontemplatiker und Glückssucher: no silence, no good luck!
